My Faith in Jesus Christ

My Faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God - My Faith in Jesus Christ - Profile ImageTo me, my faith in Jesus Christ is a wonder. Imagine me…born into the largest Pentecostal Church in the Western Cape and serving in the Church Band, the Youth Choir and the Sunday school up to the age of 19. Yet, I only got my own Bible when I was 37 years of age! It was only at the age of 37 that I really started to pray and call on the Name of my Lord Jesus Christ, and then I had to borrow a Bible until such time as I bought my first Bible.

Before I started to call on the Name of Jesus and live with the Word, I spent years of soul-searching. I delved into all sorts of philosophies and doctrines. Like, the philosophies of, “I can”; “Love yourself”; “believe in yourself”; as well as the “Greatest Love is within you”.

For years I’ve religiously followed and studied the philosophy of personal achievement as advocated by Napoleon Hill and Andrew Carnegie. I’ve also religiously followed the principles of yoga and self-meditation and self-hypnosis. I also followed the principles of psycho-analysis and horoscopes, including the interpretation of dreams and visions.

Through the Grace of my Lord Jesus Christ, I finally ended up searching the Bible. I simply had enough of the short-lived successes of these philosophies. They just cannot lead you unto Eternal Life in Jesus Christ. Simply because they lack the knowledge of the Light of the Glory of God and Eternal Life in Jesus Christ.

The prophets of these philosophies themselves are also plagued with all sorts of diseases. This is definitely not my lot in Jesus Christ! For, He took all my sicknesses and all of my diseases upon Him in His Body on the Cross on Calvary, and by His wounds I am healed (Isa. 53:5; Ex. 23:25; Deut. 7:15; Ps. 91:5, 6, 10).

Keep Your Heart Clean

If you are a believer in Jesus Christ and you are struck by some incurable disease then you should examine the knowledge and purity of your faith in the Word of God in Christ! When God delivered Israel from bondage in Egypt, there was not one sick or feeble amongst the people of Israel (Ps. 105:37). And, Jesus Christ is yesterday, today, and forever the same!

Do you know that God can choose you and that even though you are a chosen one, you can thoroughly frustrate the Holy Spirit’s attempt to bless and deliver you? This will be simply because you never got to learn God’s ways. That’s why Moses prayed to God: if I have found grace in thy sight, show me now thy way, that I may know thee (Ex. 33:13).

Are you a Christian that also rely on the divination of your daily horoscope, and star sign predictions? Then you’ll find yourself perplexed in times of calamity, and the Word of God won’t bear fruit in your life! You cannot serve two masters. You cannot serve the horoscope and the Word of God! God is a jealous God!

Of Israel, God’s chosen people, the Holy Spirit in Heb. 3:7-11 says: “Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, Today if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years. Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do always err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest…”

The Philosophies of the world

The philosophies of the world certainly work, but their work in your life is only temporarily. They lift you up, yeah, high up, as they also proclaim: “the Sky’s the limit”. However, these philosophies surely drop you with the destructive impact of a ten-ton boulder crashing into the ground!

There can be no doubt that the previously mentioned philosophies do indeed draw of their principles from the Holy Bible. So, my drift into the Scriptures, by the Grace of my Lord Jesus Christ, was gradual, yet inevitable.

The philosophies of this world are nothing but cunningly devised fables (Col. 2:8; 2Pet. 1:16). They endeavour to emulate and imitate the Power of the Strength of the Glory of Jesus Christ. They rob you of the knowledge of the Light of the Glory of God and Eternal Life in Jesus Christ!

My faith in the Word of God was also gradual. Up to the point where I dumped these vain philosophies and started living with the Word of God.

Amongst the many verses of Scripture that I then found during my initial fellowship with the Bible, the following two verses of Scripture in Matt. 21:22 and Col. 2:20-23 also had a profound impact on my faith-life.

Matt. 21:22

In Matt. 21:22 the Master says: “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”

This statement by our Lord Jesus Christ in so matter-of-fact. It cuts across every Christian doctrine and preaching of abstinence and self-sacrifice to get God to honour His Word and answer my prayers.

It made me wonder … was Matt. 21:22 a reckless statement by an irresponsible Person. A Person that has absolutely no empathy and compassion for the dilemma of those that find this verse of Scripture. A person who in utter desperation, wholeheartedly puts his trust in this Word of Promise spoken by the Son of God?

I thought…God knows very well in His Heart and in His Soul, that no man living on this earth is righteous before Him. Why would HE then allow His Son Jesus Christ to say that whatsoever I may ask in prayer, believing I shall receive?

There are many prophets of various faiths that teach and demand that you first go into self-sacrifice, including fasting, before God will even consider answering your prayer. They also teach that you accept calamity and destruction as purification by God before He answers your prayer. Even Christianity and its various denominations teach this self-sacrifice. It made me wonder … is Matt. 21:22 really true?

Then there is Col. 2:20-23…

After years of following the belief which teaches self-holiness through abstinence, I also found Col. 2:20-23. In Col. 2:20-23 the apostle Paul asks, “Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, (Touch not; taste not; handle not; Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men? Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.” The phrase “neglecting of the body” refers to fasting.

The apostle Paul also says in Tit. 1:15, “Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.” And, Jam. 1:5 (EMTV); 1Tim. 6:17 says that God gives to all generously and without reproach and, also gives us richly all things to enjoy.

Col. 2:20-23; Tit. 1:15 and Jam. 1:5; 1Tim. 6:17 teach about your liberty in Christ. After I learned about the liberty I have in Christ, my faith in Jesus Christ has been radically transformed! I have since learned that the Word of God is true.

The Word of God is an accurate testimony of the help of God in times of disaster and need for those who trust in HIM with a pure heart – a heart free from superstitions (Ps. 46:1). I have since learned that Jesus Christ, the Son of God is a fountain of living waters unto those whose heart is undivided towards HIS Word of blessing and deliverance (Jer. 2:13; 17:13).

A New Spiritual Fellowship

Beloved, the Word of God, according to the Gospel of the Glory of Jesus Christ, is quite clear. There is only one way that you can move God to protect you and your loved ones. That is by keeping yourself clean from other faiths and superstitions when you fellowship with the Word of Christ Jesus.

Hence, there can be no fellowship with the Holy Spirit, without fellowship with the word of God. Rev. 19:13 says that the Name of Jesus Christ is called The Word of God. In John 14:23 the Master also says: “…If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”

Fellowship with the Word of God is also fellowship with the Name of Jesus Christ, for His Name is the Word of God. If you fellowship with the Word of God and also with the spirit of other philosophies and divination at the same time, then the spirit of that philosophy and divination will surely present itself to you as Jesus Christ. And you’ll never come to the knowledge of the Light of Eternal Life in Christ Jesus. For God is a Jealous God – He will not share your heart with any other spirit!

The Apostle Paul warns in Col.2:8: “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”

The Only Reliable Spiritual Fellowship

After years of my life wasted on philosophies of personal achievement, including the interpretation of dreams and visions and star signs, I found that the only reliable spiritual fellowship was fellowship with the Word of Christ as found written in the Bible!

If you fellowship with the Word of Christ in a pure heart, you will surely enjoy a full reward of your faith in Christ Jesus. If you mingle the Word of God in your heart with philosophies and superstition, and the interpretation of omens and dreams and visions, you will be thoroughly deceived.

With my faith in Jesus Christ the Son of God anchored in His Word, I am delivered and set free from all my troubles, adversities, fears, disease and shame. His Word has never failed me.

God bless and guide you.
