Dreams and Visions in Other Faiths
There is a difference between the dreams and visions of the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ, and the dreams and visions of spirits of other faiths like, Buddha, Mohammed, Hare Krishna, Baha’i, etc. This is because Christian dreams and visions are not in the same light as dreams and visions of other faiths.
Christian dreams and visions are in the Light of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Lord Jesus Christ is an unchanging light (Jam. 1:17). The dreams and visions of other faiths are in the light of the spirit of this world.
In fact, we are all born into the power of the light of the spirit of this world. We remain in the light of the spirit of this world until we convert to our Lord Jesus Christ.
Satan is the spirit of this world. We learn in 1John 5:19 (ESV) that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. Dreams and visions of the spirit of this world are in the lights of this world. The spirit of this world invokes dreams and visions that are illuminated by imitations of the lights of this world.
The Lights of this World
The lights of the world consist of the sun and its light, the moon and its light as well as, man-made lights. Man-made lights consist of fire and its light, electric lights, and the lights of candles and lamps. These lights illuminate our usual dreams and visions.
Before Satan was cast from Heaven (Rev. 12:9, 10), he dwelled in the Light of the Glory of God. In fact, everything that God created lived in the Light of the Glory of God before Adams and Eve’s transgression in Gen. 3:1-7.
After Satan’s rebellion against God he established his own kingdom. However, Satan and his kingdom were stripped of the Light of the Glory of God (Rev. 16:10). Hence, Satan and his angels had no light, and could only imitate the lights of this present world. Therefore, when the spirit of this world appear unto us in a dream or a vision, that dream or vision can only be illuminated by the lights of this world.
Dreams and visions by the spirit of this world are also known as appearances of evil. The apostle Paul admonishes in 1Thess. 5:22-24, “Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.”
The Light of Heaven
The Light of Heaven is the Light of the Holy Spirit and is from one Source – Heaven. It is also the Light of the Glory of God.
In Rev. 21:24 we learn that Heaven, that Holy City Jerusalem from above, does not need, “the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.” Rev. 22:5 also tells us, “there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light.”
The lights of the sun, and the moon, and candles changes to darkness. God is light, and in him is no darkness at all (1John 1:5). Hence, our Lord Jesus Christ warns in Luke 11:35; Matt. 6:23 to take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
You walk in darkness when you believe in dreams and visions of the spirit of this world. Dreams and visions of the spirit of this world are in the lights of this world and the lights of this world change to darkness. And so we find the apostle Paul saying in 2Cor. 11:14 that Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
When you believe in the dreams and visions that are in the lights of this world, then your body is full of darkness. Thus, your body will be prone to diseases.
The Light of the Glory of God
The Light of the Glory of God is in the Face of Jesus Christ. The apostle Paul teaches in 2Cor. 4:6, “For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
The Face of Jesus Christ is not found on a portrait, or in the spiritual image of any person, or animal, or insect. The apostle John gives a description of the Face of Jesus Christ in Rev. 1:16, saying: His countenance was as the sun shines in his strength.
The apostle Paul describes the Light of the Glory of God in Jesus Christ in Acts 26:13, “At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.” The phrase “above the brightness of the sun” means that you can look into the Light of the Glory of God. Whereas, when you look into the light of the sun your eyes will be blinded. Click Here to read more about the Light of the Glory of God and the Holy Spirit
Your First Love for Jesus Christ
Faith in our Lord Jesus Christ comes by hearing the Word of God about Jesus Christ (Rom. 10:17). This is how the prophet Jeremiah describes initial faith in God, “Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts (Jer. 15:16). From Jer. 15:16 we can also learn that faith in the Word of God is your first love for our Lord Jesus Christ.
Now, Our Lord Jesus Christ says in Rev. 2:4, 5: Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
From Rev. 2:4, 5 we can learn these two spiritual principles:
- You leave your first love of the Word of Christ when you start to believe in dreams and visions and seek the interpretation thereof.
- The “first works” are faith in the Word of Christ. Faith in the Word of Christ is exercised by believing the Word of Christ for deliverance from adverse circumstances in your live, including the lives of your loved ones.
Your faith in the Word of Christ is confirmed when you speak and pray the Word of Christ against an adversity in your life. Thus, you will keep the Word of Christ pure in your heart, and reap the victory of the Word of Christ. For He will hasten His Word to perform it unto you (Jer. 1:12; Rom. 10:10; Heb. 10:23).
Resist the Devil
The apostle Peter admonishes us in 1Pet. 5:8, 9, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”
The first step to resist the devil is to put your faith in the Word of God, instead of believing in dreams and visions. In fact, when you initially come to believe in our Lord Jesus Christ, it is not by having dreams and visions.
You resist the devil when you resist those usual dreams and visions which are not in the Light of the Glory of God. Thus, the Spirit of Glory will preserve your whole spirit and soul and body blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (1Thess. 5:22, 23).
You have been called to dwell in the Light of the Glory of God in Christ Jesus (1Pet. 2:9). The apostle Peter also teaches in 2Pet. 1:19: “We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts.”
Two Spiritual Facts from 2Pet. 1:19:
- The Word of God in Christ is a more sure word of prophecy that cannot fail you. He makes His Word prosper in you when you keep His Word in your heart (Isa. 55:11; Col. 1:5).
- When you keep His Word in your heart, His Word will illuminate your heart until the Holy Spirit comes and shine in your heart. Here, the Holy Spirit is referred to as the day star (The morning star in other Bible translations). See also Ps. 119:105; 2Cor. 4:6.
Jesus Christ is an Unchanging Light
1Pet. 2:9 says: “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.”
We are called to walk in that marvellous light of Christ – as Rev. 21:24 also tells us. Rev. 21:23, 24 says: “And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.”
The Holy City Jerusalem (Heaven), does not need the sun, or the moon, or any man-made light to illuminate it (Rev. 21:23, 24; 22:5). But, our planet need the light of the sun and the moon to illuminate it. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the Light of the Glory of God; He illuminates the Holy City Jerusalem.
Seeing then that our conversation (that is, our new birthplace in Christ) is in Heaven, our spiritual walk must not be in the light of the moon or the sun. Phil. 3:20 say that: “our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.” This means that we look to Heaven for our Lord Jesus. And when we look to Heaven we look for the Son of God coming with the Clouds of Heaven in the Light of the Glory of God (Mark 13:26).
His Light is in Glory
You cannot see the Light of the Glory of God or the Cloud of Heaven with your physical eyes. The Light of the Glory of God and the Cloud of Heaven is seen with your spiritual eyes. You see with your spiritual eyes when you have a dream or a vision. And when you have a dream and a vision you will see the dream or the vision in darkness or in light.
This light that you see in your dream or vision can be like the light of the sun or the moon or a candle or any other man-made light. When the light that you see in your dream or vision is like the light of the sun or the moon or any man-made light, then it is not that Light of Christ.
The light of Christ in the Glory of God never changes like the light of the day or the light of the night. Jam. 1:17 tell us that God is: “…the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.”
His Light is with the Cloud of Heaven and Brightness
The Light of the Glory of God shines from the clouds of Heaven (Heaven is that Holy City Jerusalem from above). The Cloud of the Glory of God is like fire in appearance, it does not look the same as the clouds of this earth.
The Cloud of the Glory of God is a fiery cloud that folds into itself (Ezek. 1:4). Ex. 24:17 also describes the Glory of God, “And the sight of the glory of the LORD was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.”
The Light of the Glory of God also has the brightness of the rainbow about it. Ezek. 1:28 describe the brightness of the Glory of God: “As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.”
His Light is with Strength
The Light of the Power of the Holy Spirit comes with strength, and not with feelings or emotions, or goose bumps. Eph. 6:10 teaches, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”
The apostle Paul also instructs us to: walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness (Col. 1:10, 11).
You are to keep your soul free from dreams and visions which are not Christian dreams and visions. You are to resist the lights of darkness by holding unto the Word of Christ. Col. 3:16 says: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom…”
In Eph. 1:17-19 the Apostle Paul prays: “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power.”
God bless and guide you.
